It snowed again last night... and now it's raining, raining, raining. The cool thing about snow is that even when things are crazy, crazy, crazy, it makes everything quiet, and it reminds you that it's all just noise and it all doesn't really matter at the end of the day. Bliss!

Only Half the Picture
Zanele Muholi is a South African photographer whose work I find really interesting. I love some of the colors she uses, and the perspectives... plus she was also educated at the Market Photo Workshop, where I did a tiny photography course once, so I'm a bit biased in her favour.
Her work explores the black lesbian scene in SA, and what it means live as a black lesbian in SA. The controversy of some her images are mentioned in write-ups on her, but I find the tenderness of her images to be what is really worth noting.

Rintintin
I really love the "soft approach" to working with metal that TinTown Design has.
The designs have a similar sensibility to Tord Boontje's work.

My favourite SA Elle Deco page of all time
There's nothing too fancy about it... just a fence. Not too sure about the chicken, which is cute enough, but what I love is the fence. Something so everyday but you can see it is an object that is enjoyed. A little something that gives you a smile whenever you see it, even though it's not expensive, exotic or took too much time to achieve.

Contemporary and Traditional
I first saw Cecil and Boyd's in an Elle Deco, and I was drawn to the dark interior of the shop... the glorious objects all around... as if you'd stepped into the old house of an uncle you never knew you had. Intriguing.
This is the shot that really got me.
Their website is also inspiring, with two directions in which to explore: traditional and contemporary, shown in that order below.
This is my favourite pic. Very dramatic!
