New York Times Loves Africa

What's sweeter than opening the paper (and I mean that in the virtual sense) and reading two articles about how chic Africa is? Hells yeah.

Read about Merchants on Long's pop up shop in London (wish I could go!) here. If you'd like to read more about Merchants go here or here. What a beautiful shop.

Then, continue your journey to read how Africa is re-branding itself through fashion, using its vibrant and beautiful style.

All Africa Vogue

Charlize Theron graces the cover of May's UK Vogue, and this gorgeous image is the supplement inside the mag - featuring Zimbabwean Londoner Nyasha Matonhodze.

Slowly taking over the world.

Under The Baobab

I was pleased as punch to discover Nikki via pinterest (these are her awesome boards) and even more happy to discover her blog, Baobab Telegraph. Like me, she is a girl from southern Africa living abroad, with her heart back on dusty, southern shores. And she loves fabric, design, art, the outdoors, crafting, interior decorating, photography... are we actually related!?

A Day in My Life

A big thank you to Vicki for asking me to participate in her series "A Day in the Life". I Want That is a daily read for me, so it was an honour! Never mind that I got to rub shoulders with people I admire, like Kobus, Lana and Carolyn.

Seeing Eye

The great thing about blogging is not only keeping up with all the cool artsy and designery stuff from southern Africa, but also "meeting" other bloggers and people interested in the same stuff as me.

David recently contacted me about something awesome (come back on Wednesday, you'll see) and I took a look at his blog. He takes lovely photos, not only beautiful ones and thought-provoking ones but ones that you take you places you might never have been.

Anything Goes to Paris

And speaking of Paris! Next year is my tenth anniversary. I hope my hubby and I make a trip there, because I have fallen in love with the city from afar. One of those responsible for this new found love is Kat, whose blog I love, and sadly is not posting at the moment (come back, Kat! The internet needs your sharp eye!)

Love these images from her recent trip.

See more beautiful images here, and others from her trip to Amsterdam.

I Want That Kitchen

I'm spending a lot of time on the I Want That blog... Vicki Sleet writes it daily, and there is always fabulous eye candy to enjoy. Love her kitchen!

See more on her blog.

Merry Christmas

Well, folks, Christmas is nearly here. The time to reflect, spend time with family and just take a deep breath is here. One of my favourite times of year... and I'd like to share with you a new favourite blog of mine, everything in between, by my lovely new friend Hayley. Her Christmas decor got me so inspired and I'm sure you'll love it too.

I love Hayley's baobab Christmas tree! Reminds me of my own metal African Christmas tree, stored away in South Africa... I'm thinking I need to bring it back next time I'm home!

Here are some pics from my neck of the woods, in Boston... today it is finally snowing. Not much more than a few inches, the weathermen are promising, but it's good because it finally feels like Christmas. I've become quite accustomed to what Christmas "feels like" in South Africa, and how it feels in Boston. We are definitely getting that feeling!

I find it so amusing to see the similarities and the differences in our photos. Its so funny how dark my pics are. Gotta love northern hemisphere winters!

Merry Christmas everyone! See you in the new year!

While I'm Away

Due to a couple of big projects that have come my way, I've been distracted. While I'm gone, there is a fun new blog for you to check out: Elle South Africa has got online!

With a fun header by Ms Skinny laMinx, its off to a stylish start. You can read more about Elle staffers, what they're up to and up-to-the-minute trends... plus the Elle Senior Fashion Editor's name is Kirsty, just like mine, so we're in good hands! Right not there's posting on Paris fashion week, snippets from upcoming issues and some new fashion items to die for!

See you soon! xoxo

Frankly Fabulous

Frank Features is a collaboration of Kerryn Fischer and Luanne Toms.

Borne out of a common desire to capture frank yet personal insights into the personalities, homes and stories that inspire them, Frank’s criteria is simple: ‘we only shoot what we love’."

Gorgeous.

I recognise some from my favourite shelter mags... do you? My favourite? Kerryn's house.

You can read more on burrs and berries (a lovely blog!), at livingetc or on the frankly features.
